What's the difference between locally owned and 'corporation-owned' funeral businesses?

Evermore Funerals is a locally owned funeral care provider. All profits and donations stay within the local community.

Funeral homes used to be owned mostly by local families, or partnerships involving people living within the local community. Recent decades have seen a radical change from this caring, personalised approach. Now, a significant portion of funeral homes have been bought out by wealthy multinational companies (and large national conglomerates).

One drawback of corporate-owned funeral homes is their often impersonal nature, lacking the personal touch usually found in locally-owned companies. Just like a bank or insurance company, the bigger a funeral company gets, the more it tends to become impersonal and 'clinical'. Furthermore, their large organisational structure can sometimes limit their flexibility, making it challenging to tailor a funeral plan to the specific needs of the deceased and their family. Another disadvantage is that these funeral homes are often owned by non-local investors, meaning their profits do not directly support the local community. If you've ever sought a 'quote' for a funeral service, you'll notice these 'big brand' funeral homes are often much more expensive than a locally owned and operated funeral home.

Evermore Funerals is owned by three Brisbane locals and provides quality funeral care at compassionate prices. Our experienced team has worked for large funeral homes in the past, and we are very proud to provide local, personalised support to those who are facing the loss of a loved one. We also regularly donate to not-for-profit organisations and community programs within numerous aged care facilities.

We're not saying our competitors do bad work, or are awful people - not at all. But if you're looking for a personalised touch and caring attention-to-detail, Evermore Funerals would love an opportunity to help.
