Saying farewell to pre-term infants, babies and children
It's sad that any website needs a section about funerals for babies and young children. It is the kind of loss that goes beyond words. Evermore Funerals feels strongly about assisting families facing this most painful of losses. We can assist with funeral arrangements for young children, infants and babies, including stillborn babies and babies born under 20 weeks gestation. While deeply moving and difficult, holding a funeral (or memorial) service is a beautiful way of saying farewell to your precious little one. It gives families space to express grief and love as they honour their child's life in a way that is unique and meaningful.

In Queensland, it is necessary to register the death of a child if they were born at 20 weeks gestation or over (or any baby over 400g). If your child is under 20 weeks of gestation, you may still wish to arrange a service, cremation or burial for them. When cremating a little one, we never arrange 'bulk cremations' - all babies are treated with the utmost care, and cremated individually.

Regardless of the age of your child, we can assist you in organising a funeral service followed by cremation or burial. Other options include having your little one cremated and holding a memorial service at a later time. Once you have decided this, you will need to consider whether you will have a viewing of your baby at our private facility in Geebung (north side of Brisbane). If your little one is especially small, a viewing may be difficult to conduct.

As part of our commitment to provide the best care to the people of Brisbane and beyond, we do not charge our usual professional fee when assisting with baby and infant funerals. However, we do charge a nominal administration fee to help cover essential costs involved when helping families in this terrible situation. Here is a summary of these fees. (Please note: Due to increasing operational costs involved in providing this service, our fees for baby and infant funerals/cremations have increased slightly. Thank you for your understanding.)

IF YOU REQUIRE A NO-FUNERAL 'DIRECT CREMATION'

​1. ​Babies delivered under 20 weeks gestation (or under 400g):
$149 (GST incl.) for a direct cremation only*
​​2. From 20 weeks gestation (or over 400g) - 2 years old:
$349 (GST incl.) for a direct cremation only*

These nominal administration fees cover costs involved in arranging a cremation for your little one within the Brisbane area. If choosing cremation, this charge also includes returning the ashes to you personally, provided you live within South East Queensland. *Additional charges would only occur if the family require a formal baby coffin, flowers (or any other extra items or services), request a distant delivery of ashes, or if you require a formal funeral service (see below). Additional transportation fees may be incurred if your baby is collected outside our 70km transportation radius. Viewings (when they are possible) attract no charge when they are conducted at our Geebung facility.

IF YOU REQUIRE A FUNERAL, BURIAL, OR MEMORIAL SERVICE

3. Over 2 years old: Please call us to arrange an accurate itemised quote.

These administration fees cover costs involved in arranging a cremation or burial for your little one within the Brisbane area, as well as assisting with the arrangements for the funeral/memorial. We would provide 1 Funeral Director for the funeral, burial, or memorial. **Additional charges will apply for a baby coffin, flowers (or any other extra items or services), funeral celebrant, funeral venue costs (where applicable) or other additional requirements. These extra charges are applied to the invoice at the lowest cost possible. Viewings (when they are possible) attract no charge when they are conducted at our Geebung facility or at the funeral venue prior to the service. Additional transportation fees may be incurred if your baby is collected outside our 70km transportation radius.
