ARRANGING A DIRECT CREMATION
How do I arrange a no service 'direct' cremation?
Not everyone wants a formal funeral. You can save time, money, and stress by choosing Evermore Funerals' most basic service. If you're thinking you'd like to arrange a no-service direct cremation for your loved one, here is a general guide to the process:

1. THE SAD MOMENT ARRIVES
Naturally, losing anyone in your life can be upsetting and stressful. So when someone you care about passes, it's important to give yourself time to acknowledge your emotions and not rush into making any decisions. It can also help to have someone you trust to support you. When you are ready, let us know and we will guide you through the next steps. Of course, if you know of someone who may pass away soon, it is always a good idea to contact us ahead of time so we can answer any questions you have and prepare for the next step.
2. THE PHONE CALL, CARE and COLLECTION
If you don't feel able to call us personally, you may wish to get a family member, friend or facility staff to make the call. We will then make arrangements for your loved one to be brought into our care. The time frame for this will vary depending on where they passed away. In situations where the deceased is a significant distance from Brisbane, we may require longer to arrive, and in some cases we may use trusted mortuary transfer services to ensure the most rapid response times.
3. FUNERAL DIRECTOR MEETING
One of our funeral directors will call you to arrange a meeting at a time and place to suit you. At this meeting (usually called an 'arrangement'), we will ask some questions to ascertain the type of service you would like to farewell your loved one. There will be some documents to sign and an estimate of costs with an itemised list will be completed and given to you. You may also like to provide us with clothes for your loved one at this meeting. Please note that if you'd prefer to arrange a direct cremation without a face-to-face meeting, we can complete all the documentation over the phone.
4. ADMINISTRATION WORK and PREPARATION
The funeral director will book the cremation, and will submit the required documentation to the relevant government agencies and the crematorium. Your loved one will be prepared for their cremation by our experienced mortuary technician, so they look clean and dignified. Your funeral director will call to confirm that everything is proceeding according to plan and to see if you have any final questions or concerns. You will also be informed of the approximate time when the cremation will take place.
5. THE CREMATION
All those who are being cremated will be conveyed to the crematorium by one of our funeral professionals, and be transported in a proper hearse (not a cheap van, as with some other companies).
6. FINAL STEPS
In the days after the cremation, we will generate an invoice and send it to you. Usually, there is a full 30 days to pay the invoice. We will call you to advise when the formal death certificate has arrived, and we'll let you know when the ashes are available for collection. We can also collect the ashes on your behalf and deliver them personally or post them securely via Express Post. If you need more information, please call us on 07 3544 6880 (24/7).
